So, I originally read this series as a teenager and wasn't sure they would hold up as an adult. In some ways, they don't, but they are still but and Luther geared and fun. A lot of these reviews mention the dubcon aspect of these stories, since some characters are a bit over motivated by hormones and instincts, but I think It is pretty clear that no still means no in the end. For Ambereye specifically, a lot of people say that they did not enjoy it because they hated Jolie's characterization and found her impossible to relate to. I found this odd, because I always liked Jolie the best when I first read this series. I want to put forward an idea: Jolie is autistic. As a person who was diagnosed with autism later in life, reading this now, it seemed really obvious to me, from how she responds to touch, her reaction to emotional responses, her specialized interests, and even the way she thinks of herself, as the real "monster" or the "too weird" one, or even at one point "nearly sociopathic", that Jolie is 100% on the spectrum. I think if you read thus with that in mind, you will have a better, well rounded experience. Read this book in less than 12 hours. It was by far the better book than book 1. Looking forward to reading the others in the series.
